Monovar is an inland town about 40 minutes from the blue flag sandy beaches of Alicante and its beautiful promenade and, of course, its airport. Monovar is located in the Alicante Province of the Costa Blanca. There is an abundance of things to do and visit in Alicante including its famous castle, bull ring, stunning marina, architecture and lots of shopping for the ladies. Just relax in a roadside café and watch the world go by or experience the typical Spanish shopping experience. Monovar is one of the largest towns in the area and it has enjoyed a significant historical role becoming a Royal town in 1705 and undergoing significant demographic and economic growth. There were more than 200 textile mills in 1790 and during the 19th century the town´s prosperity was based on the production of wine and grapes and the railway. During the 20th century the footwear and leather industries became increasingly important in addition to the production of wines. Alicante´s red marble is extracted from the Cavarrasa quarries located in the Monovar district. All amenities are available in Monovar town but with the area enjoying excellent access everywhere and everything is easily accessible. It enjoys a street market on a Monday but it is possible to visit a street market every day of the week.
